Safar Publications is part of Safar Academy Trust, founded by Shaykh Hasan Ali in 1998. What began as a weekend school with five students has grown into a trusted name in Islamic education, now used in more than 70 countries by teachers, parents and students.

Our work focuses on two key areas: creating the best teaching tools and resources, and providing comprehensive support to everyone who uses our curriculum.

A Message from Our Founder

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

From our earliest days, Safar has been more than a publisher. Safar means a journey: a journey to get closer to Allāh, a journey to move from darkness to light, a journey from the dunyā to the ākhirah and a journey from where you are to Jannah. Every learner is travelling a path, and our aim has always been to place sound knowledge and meaningful guidance along that path.

Our books were written with that purpose. They bring together fiqh, 'aqīdah, sīrah, the stories of the prophets, personal development (tarbiyah), in a way that provides guidance to the challenges of the modern world. Knowledge is presented in a holistic way and the goal remains to inspire the learner to live by practicing the original Islamic teachings in an ever-changing world.

By Allāh's grace this work has grown and is now used in more than seventy countries by teachers, parents and students who want to support their children's journey of 'ilm, 'amal and tarbiyah.

I ask Allāh to place acceptance in this effort, to make it a means of benefit for the next generation and to reward all those who teach, support and learn through Safar.

Shaping Hearts and Minds

The Safar Tarbiyah Framework highlights nine core dispositions nurtured through our curriculum. These qualities develop gradually over years of learning, shaping students who not only study Islam but live it with sincerity and purpose.

Servants of Allāh – 'Ibādah and 'Ubūdiyyah

Learners are taught to worship Allāh sincerely and to remember Him in every moment. Through īmān, taqwa and iḥsān, they learn that 'ibādah includes both outward actions and inward devotion. They grow to seek 'ubūdiyyah in all aspects of life, guided by such lessons as the Names of Allah.

Company of the Righteous

Learners are guided to choose such friends and keep the company of those who bring them close to Allah. They learn from the Qur'ān and Sunnah that good company strengthens faith and shapes good character, just as the Ṣaḥābah were moulded through their companionship with the Prophet ﷺ.

Prophetic Da'wah with Lifelong 'Ilm and 'Amal

Learners are inspired to spread the teachings of Islam to others through a commitment of seeking beneficial knowledge and adhering to its practice. They embody the responsibility of calling towards good and forbidding evil through prophetic character, wisdom and conduct.

Being Like the Prophet ﷺ

Learners develop a sincere love for the Prophet ﷺ and strive to follow his Sunnah in belief, worship and character. They study his life to understand how to live with mercy, humility and balance in all situations.

People of the Qur'ān

Students learn to love the Qur'ān, to recite it daily and to reflect on its meanings. They are encouraged to act upon its teachings so that their choices, character and habits are shaped by Allah's words.

Devout in Ṣalāh

Students learn to establish regular prayer with focus and joy. Following the example of the Prophet ﷺ who found comfort in ṣalāh, they come to see prayer as a source of strength and an ultimate level of success in both worlds.

Seekers of Iḥsān – The Best I Can Be

Learners are reminded that Allah loves excellence in every action. They strive for iḥsān in their worship, studies and behaviour, always seeking to become the best version of themselves for the sake of Allah.

Affinity with the Ummah

Students are encouraged to care for others, to support their community and to feel connected to the global Ummah. They learn that believers are one body and that compassion and empathy are essential traits of a practising Muslim.

Truthful and Trustworthy

Students are taught that truthfulness and trustworthiness form the basis of strong relationships with family, teachers, friends and others. They learn that ṣidq means honesty in both words and actions, and through this they aim to reach one of the highest ranks of belief.

A Values-Based Approach

Through learning, understanding and embodying the Qur'ān and Sunnah, users of our curriculum learn to fulfil their religious rites and duties in an informed manner. And through a focus on personal development, they grow to make moral choices and decisions as confident Muslims living in a globalised and modern world.
